How to Find Your Ring Size at Home

by swoony team 12 Dec 2022

Adulting is hard but thankfully there are plenty of hacks to make our lives a little bit
easier. And that includes measuring your ring size at home - without having to go to the jeweller! Here are three ways you can do it yourself with pretty much no fuss. So pull out that tape measure and get started!

1. Use a Ring Sizing Chart

The first method is to use a ring sizing chart. This is probably the quickest and easiest way to find your ring size at home. All you need is a ruler or tape measure and something like a marker or pen.

- Simply print out the ring sizing chart (you can find plenty of them online)
- Put your finger through the appropriate hole, and mark where the line crosses over
- Measure the distance between the two marks with your Ruler or tape measure

Voila! You now have your ring size in both inches and millimetres.

2. Wrap a String or Strip of Paper Around Your Finger

If you don't have access to a printer or ruler/tape measure, don't worry! There's another way to do it. This method requires nothing more than a piece of string or strip of paper and a marker or pen.

- Start by wrapping the string or paper snugly around the base of your finger (where you would typically wear a ring)

- Once it's wrapped around, use your marker or pen to make a small mark on the string/paper where it meets and then unroll it

- Measure the length of the string/paper from end to end with a ruler or tape measure, And again, you've got your ring size in both inches and millimetres!

3. The Ruler Method

If you don't have any string or paper lying around, there's one last option: the ruler method. For this one, all you need is a ruler!

- Place the edge of the ruler flush against your finger (again, where you would typically wear a ring)

- Make a small mark at the point where the top of your finger touches the ruler

- Align that mark with the nearest inch/centimetre line on the ruler and make another mark.

-Measure the distance between those two marks with your ruler
And that's your ring size!

Measuring for your ring size at home doesn't have to be difficult! With these three easy methods, anyone can do it in just a few minutes with nothing more than a few household items. So next time you're wondering what size ring to buy, remember these tips and save yourself some time (and money!) by measuring at home first.
